The Sharks were fortunate to have former Florida Gators and professional basketball player Patric Young stop by to coach up the boys and offer life lessons.
Young, a local product out of Providence High School, played four years in Gainesville for the Gators, winning Defensive Player of the Year his senior year.
Young spoke with the boys about perseverance and rising above your challenges, something he is painfully familiar with. Young was involved in a single-car accident in 2022 that has left him partially paralyzed. However, he’s used his struggles and his attempts to move beyond them as inspiration for others, most recently as the author of Sit to Rise, detailing his attempts to overcome adversity.
Sports columnist and PV local Gene Frenette penned a terrific piece about Young’s visit to PVHS for The Florida Times-Union.
